So, as most of you know or might guessed, Ben and I are moving out to Queen Creek into our very first owned house!
We had been looking at houses for several months and finally came across a house that we thought would be great for us about 1 1/2 months ago. We made an offer for half the price the house sold for a couple years ago and our offer got accepted! About a week later, we set the closing date to be the last day of April and gave the escrow check to our Realtor, Ric Ashby (AWESOME guy, friend, and realtor. If you any of you ever need a realtor, please go to this guy, he's the best!).
Before Ric could give the check to the seller's realtor, I noticed the MLS # listed on the website we originally looked at this house on, the price was listed several thousands of dollars lower than their original price (and our offer price). Ben called Ric, communicated with the seller and we got the lower price. We were so happy that we were able to save thousands of dollars.
About a week after that, we went out to the house (as we did several times to show it to our family, friends, and just to check on it) and we found the outside pane of a double pane back door broken... someone had tried to break into our house! Now our offer was on the house as it was when we made the offer (since it was a foreclosure/bank owned house), the broken door was not a part of that deal. So we called Ric again and he again communicated with the other realtors and got them to agree to fix the door.
That was a month ago, when Ric went out to the house on Monday to check on the door, it was not fixed! So Ric pretty much threatened them that we were not going to close until they fix the door.
Yesterday (Tuesday), the seller's realtor wanted to just give us a $1000 instead of them fixing the door. Well, after researching how much it would cost to either replace the glass or replace the whole door, I figured out that we would be making money if we took the $1000. We told Ric to them "SURE!".
Today, the seller's realtor gives Ric a call and tells him that the bank didn't approve of it; they would be fixing it instead. The glass company can't come out for an estimate until tomorrow and who knows how long after that it'll take to fix it (the same day, the next day, the next week??).
Ben and I have 2 days off this next week, including Saturday, so we're hoping that they'll have it fixed by then. We're really hoping that, because we already told our apartment manager that we would be out the 7th of May.
Although, I have mostly complained in this post, many of the issues that we had were blessings in disguise (i.e. the seller lowering their price). We are so blessed with the opportunity to buy this house and we’re thankful every day for it.
Ben and I are just so excited to move into this house. We just love that we’ll have more space, more storage, a backyard for Brewster, a guest room, etc. I can’t wait to decorate all the rooms and plan the landscaping of the backyard, have a garden (although that’ll all be one step at a time). I’ve pretty much been dreaming for the last month and a half (since we made an offer) about this house.
Hopefully, we’ll soon have more pictures to post!!!

Hey...I know we said we were going to go to Jesterz...I don't know if that is happening... BUT let me know if you still want it to, and I will make sure we go in like two saturdays.... ALSO, Sam and I really want to go camping and then the next day to Gisela! Would you two be interested in going for a weekend?? Let me know, and I will try my best to plan it. We might wait though until mid-summer!
So exciting! Thanks for all the details, even if they've been somewhat painful to experience. But you WILL be in your new house soon. Congratulations!! Ü
